By entering, and as a condition of participating in this competition, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules, which are a contract, so read them carefully before entering.

OVERVIEW

  • Space Time Mead & Cider Works,NEPA Horror Film Festival and Artists for Art (AFA), are sponsoring a competition to design a bottle label for a special 2019 Space Time Mead & Cider Works’ wine.
  • After a juried assessment, the selected finalists’ artwork submissions (~3 to 5) will be displayed at Finalist & People’s Choice Selection Reception by attendees at AFA Gallery on July 28th, where the winner will be chosen by the attendees. 
  • The winner will have their name and artwork featured on a special 2019 release of Creature Feature Wine and will receive a cash award of $250.
  • Winning artwork, frame, and copyright will become exclusive property of STM&CW.
  • All proceeds from the contest and reception will go to Artists for Art.


TIME LINE

  • June 21 – July 21 Competition submission
  • July 28, 2019.  Finalist & People’s Choice Selection Reception, AFA Gallery, , 6-8pm
  • October 13th 2019 Wine release at NEPA Horror Film Festival


 SUBMISSION DETAILS


Whom May Enter:
All entrants must be 21 as of June 21st, 2019.  The contest is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, unless restricted by law.  Individual entries only, no group entries allowed.


Is there a fee to enter?  How do I enter?
Yes, there is a nominal $25 per entry fee.  Entrance fees are nonrefundable.  All entries must be paid via paypal. Artist will submit digital images of their artwork, up to 5 per person via the contest entry form (https://form.jotform.com/91576111301143)

What can I win?
Besides bragging rights, $250 and 12 bottles of Creature Feature wine, and 2 tickets to the NEPA Horror Film Festival.


What is the theme for the artwork?
The winning art work will be on the label of a wine created specifically for the NEPA Horror Film Festival.  The wine will be called Creature Feature. The theme is reminiscent of the movies broadcast on weekly TV - taken from the classic horror movies of the 1930s and 1940s, the horror and science-fiction films of the 1950s, British horror films of the 1960s, the Japanese "giant monster" movies of the 1960s, and early 1970s, and even the later B grade films from the 80’s.

What type of artwork is allowed?

  • New, original and unique piece that has not received an award nor formal public recognition for artistic achievement.
  • Two-dimensional form of visual art, which may include, but not limited to, paint on canvas, graphic illustrations, watercolor, charcoal, ink or pencil.
  • Artwork in the form of photography and art in three-dimensional form will NOT be accepted.


Take special notice for appropriateness for use as a label space for art will be 3”x3" or 4"x4". The submitted artwork does not need to be those dimensions, but it will be reduced to 3”x3” 4"x4".


Artist’s signature should not show on artwork nor should the text for the wine type or other standard wine label elements.  Acknowledgement to artist as the competition winner will be shown on the label, and any text or label information will be added by our designer.


In general, all submissions should be tasteful, CANNOT depict any children, brands, or copyrights, faces of people, weaponry, words, flags, military or governmental insignia. and must be the complete intellectual property of the entrant. Note, you may include the words “Creature Feature” in your design, but not required.

Submissions should be JPG, or JPEG format at 300dpi. The initial digital submission must provide a clear indication of the final artwork. No significant changes may be made to artwork following digital submission. Any unapproved or significantly altered physical artwork will be disqualified.

How is winner selected?  

The sponsors will select 3-5 finalists from the entries based on: (1) alignment to theme, (2) appropriateness of materials, (3) appropriateness for use as a label, (4) workmanship, (5) overall impression. 

The finalist’s’ pieces will be displayed at Finalists & People’s Choice Selection Reception.  The winner will be chosen by popular public vote, via cash donation, of those attending the event.   

A check in the amount of $250 will be sent to the winner within two weeks of the award reception. No more than one prize will be awarded.


What Else should I know?

The winning art and the rights to the art will become property of Space Time Mead & Cider Works, Inc at the end of the contest period.

All taxes (federal, state and local) and other expenses not specified in these Official Rules as being provided as part of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

  • NEPA Horror Film Festival - The 5th Annual NEPA HORROR FILM FESTIVAL "13 SHORT FILMS" Film Festival will be at CIRCLE DRIVE-IN THEATRE in Dickson City Pennsylvania Sunday October 13th!
